‘Spinning Jenny’ premieres at Atlantic Stage
Atlantic Stage opens the world premiere of Kevin D. Ferguson’s “Spinning Jenny,” at the troupe’s new site, in Myrtle Beach Mall, at U.S. 17 and S.C. 22, near Briarcliffe Acres, and next door to Bath and Body Works, near Bass Pro Shops, and across from Carolina Improv Company’s Uptown Theater.
The story centers on a woman who meets a man and finds a whole new life outside of the carnival midway, but she must choose between the opportunity for a whole new world or stay with her scheming father in the place she has always known.
Show times are 7:30 pm. Thursdays-Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through Feb. 21 – for $27.50 adults, $22.50 seniors/educators/military, and $17.50 students. Also, patrons for Sunday shows on Jan. 31 and and Feb. 7 are invited to stay afterward to chat with the play’s cast members.
Other plays in this eighth season are “Two Rooms,” March 24-April 17; “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” May 19-June 12; and “Sea Marks,” June 23-July 17.
Atlantic Stage also has launched its 40-day “IndieGogo Campaign” – www.indiegogo.com/projects/atlantic-stage-transform-our-space#/ – with a goal to raise $150,000 – with donations of $1 to $10,000 sought – to build its “dream theater” at its new mall space, with about $100,000 going toward construction costs and the remainder for audience seating, equipment, and operating expenses.
