Weatherwise, we cannot start yet singing “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” but step into five local theaters and you’ll feast your eyes and ears on the splendor and sounds of Christmas for the next two months.

Here’s a rundown on the array of entertainment in local house shows.

Diners of a four-course meal – a vegetarian plate also is available – will join Captain Scrooge and Bob Cratchit in a special adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic, on a journey to Christmases past, present and future in search of “the true reason for the season,” seeing giant toys come to life, performing acrobatics, as well as gymnastics and a live nativity, said Larry McCoy, director of sales and marketing.

Speaking of Dolly Parton, the owner of Pirates Voyage, who has recovered after surgery to remove kidney stones earlier this fall: Look for her new movie, “Coat of Many Colors,” which will premiere, 9-11 p.m. Dec. 10 on NBC (WMBF-TV 10/32, WCBD-TV 2 and WECT-TV 6): Parts of the autobiography about her upbringing, set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955, also were filmed in the Dollywood, a theme park celebrating its 30th anniversary in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
