Grand Strand Model Railroaders stage show
The Grand Strand Model Railroaders are exclaiming “All Aboard” for its sixth annual Train Show & Sale: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, at Lakewood Camping Resort Conference Center, 5837 S. Kings Highway, about a mile north of S.C. 544, near Surfside Beach. Admission is $5 ages 12 and older, otherwise free.
Activities include free clinics, door prizes, HO & O scale layouts, and the Wilmington Train Museum bringing its 5-by-48-foot HO layout of the Port City waterfront in the 1940s, with all the buildings are built from scratch from drawings and pictures of that era.
Also, Grand Strand Model Railroaders will help the Socastee Heritage Foundation Dec. 11-13 with “A Christmas Fair at the Sarvis House,” a fundraiser to help preserve the 1880s structure that remains a historical fixture on Dick Pond Road.
See working train displays 4-7 p.m. Mondays, noon-4 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays, for free at the club’s site in Myrtle Beach Mall, at U.S. 17 and S.C. 22, near Briarcliffe Acres, three doors from Bass Pro Shops.
