Legends lineup shifts from summer to fall

Legends in Concert in Myrtle Beach will shift its lineup of tribute artists after this weekend.

Catch the summer lineup – the Blues Brothers, Kenny Chesney, Katy Perry, Prince, and Elvis Presley, 8 p.m. daily through Sunday.

As of Tuesday, through Oct. 29, Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire and Rod Stewart will replace Chesney, Perry and Prince in the roster. Also, the 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist champion, Dean Z, will take over saluting the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, starting Sept. 10. Jason Aiesi, general manager, also said this marks Legends’ first Lionel Richie tribute locally since 2007-08, when the theater was still in Surfside Beach.

Show times are 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, also with 2 p.m. matinees Tuesdays.

Grand Strand Bowling for Vets

Grand Strand Bowling for Vets will strike out on Friday at Little River Lanes, 300 Bowling Lane, Littler River, off River Hills Drive, north of U.S. 17.

This event, which opens at noon, supports the Folds of Honor Foundation, which based in Owasso, Okla., provides educational scholarships nationwide to military families of those who have been killed or disabled while in active duty (918-274-4700 or www.foldsofhonor.org).

Choose from two sessions, each with raffles, prizes and giveaways:

▪ 1-4 p.m. – Open bowling for families and friends for $20 per person.

▪ 6-9 p.m. – Open bowling for $25 per person; and an on-lane coaching session with Rhino Page from the Professional Bowling Association, a former U.S. amateur champion, for $50 with advance registration.

Cole Bros. returns to Myrtle Beach

Cole Bros. Circus “To the Max” will make an encore appearance in Myrtle Beach, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9-11, in the parking lot on east side of Oak Street, across from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, near 21st Avenue North

Advance tickets at www.gotothecircus.com are $16, $20 or $23 ages 13 and older, and free general admission tickets online for ages 2-12, two per paid adult ticket (also applicable for upgrade toward child’s reserved seat for $4 and VIP for $7). Prices on the day of each show are $21, $25 or $28 ages 13 and older; and $16, $20 or $23 ages 2-12. Also, admission is free for ages 1 and younger, in parent’s lap.

Advance tickets also are available through Sept. 8 at Gift Addict in Myrtle Beach mall, at U.S 17 and S.C. 22, near Briarcliffe Acres.

The circus, based in DeLand, Fla., also made a Grand Strand stop in March.

Annual pass rolls for SkyWheel

The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel continues sales of annual passes for unlimited general admission rides or “flights,” each of which entails three revolutions.

Introductory pass prices, sold on site, are $25 for ages 12 and older, and $15 ages 3-11. That compares with respective regular single-ride prices of $13 and $9. Admission’s always free for ages 2 and younger.

The pass does not cover VIP rides, which remain $50 and $35 per flight, respectively. However, pass holders are accorded discounted general admission tickets for as many as four guests per day.

Buy passes anytime 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily on site at the SkyWheel, 1110 N. Ocean Blvd., adjacent to Myrtle Beach’s Plyler Park, at Mr. Joe White Avenue.
