Organists chapter opens concert series

The American Guild of Organists, Grand Strand Chapter, has announced its 2015-16 slate of almost-monthly events, all of which are free and open to the public.

The convocation concert, “When in Our Music God is Glorified,” is 6 p.m. Friday comprises organists, brass and string quartets, and singers, at First Presbyterian Church, 1300 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, with Brown Bradley, host and director of music and fine arts at the church.

The rest of the schedule consists of:

▪ “The Alexander Technique: Avoiding injury when practicing and performing,” with Renee Jackson, 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 706 14th Ave. S., North Myrtle Beach.

▪ “Choral Technique and Rehearsing the Volunteer Choir,” with Terri Sinclair, 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Trinity Church, 3000 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach.

▪ “Conducting for the Bi Vocational Church Musician,” with Tim Koch, 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at First Baptist Church, 603 Elm St., Conway.

▪ Post Epiphany Party, 4 p.m. Jan. 10 at a family’s residence in Pawleys Island.

▪ “Pedals, Pipes and Pizza,” with Ashley Sosis, host, 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 6 at Trinity Church in Myrtle Beach.

▪ Organ and Piano Duos with Chapter Members,” with Patrick Downes, host, 4 p.m. March 13 at First United Methodist Church, 901 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach.

▪ “Festival of Hymns and Harmonizations,” with 4 p.m. April 17 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, 4182 U.S. 17 Business, Murrells Inlet

See ‘FUNtastic Art’ youth exhibit

A “FUNtastic Art” exhibit by art students ages 5-17, and their instructor Artist Nina Ortiz, shows their personal renditions of dance with life-size portraits in movement and expression.

See the display in North Myrtle Beach’s J. Bryan Floyd Community Center, 1030 Possum Trot Road (280-5584), 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays through October.

In “FUNtastic Art,” children take hands-on, basic art instruction, learning how to use art tools and supplies with a wide variety of media, including water colors, pencils, acrylic paints, and recycled materials.

‘Carnival of Magic,’ ‘Dinosaurs’ conclude

A show and an exhibit at Broadway at the Beach, in Myrtle Beach, have reached their final weekend.

The schedule for the Palace Theatre, at U.S. 17 Bypass and 21st Avenue North, will shuffle as of September to head into fall. All prices are plus tax:
