Ricky Gervais to revisit his favorite moments of 'The Office'

July 6 (UPI) --Ricky Gervais, who created and starred on the original, British version of The Office, has announced plans to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary.

Gervais, 65, said Monday that he will revisit 25 favorite moments featuring his character, David Brent. The special will stream Wednesday on his YouTube channel.

In a preview, Gervais cited David begging for his job back in Season 2, Episode 6, as the "first bit of serious acting I've ever done."

Other 25th anniversary celebrations will include a special featuring Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook, who played Tim and Garreth, airing Wednesday.

The Office aired for two seasons on BBC Two from 2001 to 2002 and was followed by a two-part Christmas special on BBC One in 2003. The mockumentary sitcom followed employees at the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company.

Other cast members included Lucy Davis, Stirling Gallacher, Oliver Chris, Ralph Ineson, Patrick Baladi, Stacey Roca and Elizabeth Berrington.

Gervais co-created, wrote and directed The Office with Stephen Merchant. The show inspired an American remake starring Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer.
