Guest thrilled to catch Taylor's bouquet. The flowers aren't so happy
One lucky guest at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding can say, "Thank you for the lovely bouquet."
Ashley Smith, the sister of Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammate Trey Smith, said in a social media post that she caught Swift's bouquet at the July 3 nuptials.
"Somehow…I ended up catching Tay Tay's bouquet," Ashley Smith wrote on Instagram. "So here's to believing it's bringing a lifetime of love, luck, and laughter my way."
The caption accompanied a series of images of Ashley and Trey Smith before the wedding, as well as photos of Ashley holding the bouquet. The final slide showed an embroidered white napkin featuring the "Blank Space" lyric, "So it's gonna be forever..." that guests received.
Swift and Travis married in a massive celebration at New York City's Madison Square Garden with a star-studded guest list to boot. Aside from the A-list celebrity guests like Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Bradley Cooper and more, attendees included Kelce's teammates and other figures from the sports world.
Fans joke bouquet 'has seen better days'
The bouquet toss is a long-running wedding tradition during which brides throw their bouquet over their shoulders into a group of single women. Whoever catches it is considered "next" to get married, according to Brides magazine.
Ashley Smith, who said she caught the bouquet from Swift, shared several photos of herself with the bunch of light pink flowers on Instagram.
But some commenters were quick to point out that the flowers, some of which were sagging down from the bunch, appeared to already be decaying in the photos.
"Man.. that bouquet has seen better days," one commenter wrote.
While the flowers may have been a casualty of the high temperatures and humid weather in New York on July 3, some commenters speculated that the bouquet was disheveled from the bouquet toss itself.
"The bouquet went through a lot," one commenter said. "the girls were fighting."
Another wrote, "That bouquet looks shredded. I know the girlies fought for it like their life depended on it."
