How many hot dogs did Joey Chestnut eat last year?

After missing the 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest over a dispute with Major League Eating, Joey Chestnut picked up right where he left off in 2025 by winning the event with 70 1/2 hot dogs and buns eaten. There's simply no one on the level of Chestnut, a 17-time Mustard Belt winner.

While Chestnut's number last year was one of his best, it's not the best across his illustrious career. Chestnut set the world record in 2021 with 76 hot dogs and buns, besting the 75 he ate the year prior. That two-year stretch is undoubtedly peak Chestnut, and he remarkably ate 70+ hot dogs six straight contests from 2016-2021.

Chestnut will defend his title today against the likes of Patrick Bertoletti, James Webb, Geoffrey Esper and Nick Wehry. Before the competition begins, though, let's take a look at how Chestnut has fared at the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest historically.
