New Drama Series Featuring Dreamy Folk Soundtrack Is Quietly Taking Over Streaming

It's likely you've heard about - and perhaps even binged in one sitting (like us) - the sexually charged college rompOff Campus and the ultra-violent superhero satire The Boys, two of Prime Video's primo show offerings. But there's another original series that is not only quietly boasting a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it's climbing the streaming charts with every passing day.

It's Not Like That, an eight-episode drama from Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, the writers behind Parenthood and Life As We Know It, made its world premiere on the platform on May 15, and now that the curious case of Wellsy and Graham is cracked, and the subversive saga of Homelander and Butcher is kaput, viewers are turning their attention to the unexpected spark and irresistible chemistry that is Lori and Malcolm.

Lori is a newly divorced mother of two played by Erinn Hayes, and Malcolm, a widowed minister and father of three played by Scott Foley. Longtime friends, they are navigating singledom together as they figure out what life looks like on the other side of love, while also trying to determine if their bond might be something more than just friends.

According to FlixPatrol, the series debuted on the platform's Top 10 Shows survey right around its release, and steadily climbed to its current No. 4 spot, under the two aforementioned shows and spy series Citadel. So even though it may be taking viewers a second to discover it, more are pressing play every hour.

And here's another reason to tune in: a lush, folk-leaning soundtrack featuring original music and score by musical brothers Caleb and Brian Chan, along with a dreamy cover of Kacey Musgraves' 2019 hit "Rainbow," performed by Louie Schultz and Leven Miranda. It's a vibe that gives the near-perfect series an added layer of warmth and emotional pull.

Give it a go and let us know what you think.

It's Not Like That is streaming in its entirety on Prime Video.
