Canadian Rap Superstar Just Broke One of Michael Jackson's Most Legendary Billboard Records

Drake has officially passed the King of Pop. The Toronto rapper's new single "Janice STFU" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, marking his 14th career chart-topper and breaking his tie with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits ever by a solo male artist.

Jackson held the record at 13 No. 1 hits, a mark Drake matched earlier in his chart-record-shattering career. "Janice STFU," from Drake's recently released album Iceman, pushed him into solo lead. The song also extends Drake's own record for the most No. 1s on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts to 32 each.

Drake Reacts on Instagram

Drake marked the moment on Instagram with an artwork showing Jackson reimagined with Drake's signature blue braids against a snowy mountain backdrop. "Records broken carry on my name. Carry on carry on," he wrote in the caption.

The post drew more than 1 million likes within hours, with reactions from Nelly Furtado, Billboard's official account, Amazon Prime Video sports host Taylor Rooks, who replied with a goat emoji, and more.

Three Albums, Three Records in One Week

The chart-topping single is not Drake's only milestone this week. He released three studio albums simultaneously on May 15: Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour. The trio handed Drake a single-week record 42 songs on the Hot 100 at once, the most ever for any artist in a single chart week, and made him the first artist ever to hold the top three spots on the Billboard 200 at the same time.

The new milestones cap one of the most chart-dominant runs in Hot 100 history. Drake had previously tied with Jackson at 13 chart-toppers and has steadily climbed past every other major Hot 100 benchmark for solo male artists over the past decade.
