Marvel Super Heroes Is Coming To MTG Arena This June

Wizards of the Coast have confirmed that Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes is coming to MTG Arena, and it's bringing Spider-Man along this time. All past and future Marvel sets will be available on the platform, with the previously IRL-only set of Spider-Man finally making its MTG Arena debut.

Previously, due to licensing rights, Marvel collaboration products did not appear on MTG Arena as they did physically, appearing instead as re-skinned in-universe cards that only exist in MTG Arena, digitally, in what Wizards called Through the Omenpaths. Previously owned Through the Omenpaths will remain in players' collections as card styles, but players will also instantly receive the Spider-Man version of the cards in their collection on June 16.

MTG | Spider-Man content arrives on June 16, bringing all Spider-Man cards, source material cards, avatars, and the spiderweb basic lands to Arena. Then, the upcoming Standard-legal Marvel set set follows on June 23, along with Jumpstart Boosters, source material cards, and face commanders from all four Commander decks. This is for collectors only, though, as while these Commander cards can be craftable in-game, they remain unplayable in the majority of MTG Arena's formats.

This new arrangement brings digital and physical parity of Magic: The Gathering products closer, but will definitely have both fans and detractors. Some players have grown to love the Through the Omenpaths approach, as the game was kept in-universe as much as possible digitally, but also would make fans of the crossover IPs more likely to interact with the digital product.

MTG Arena is available as a free-to-play client on PC and Mac.
