‘Creating the Carolinas’ exhibit in Conway
A special exhibit from the S.C. Historical Society, “Creating the Carolinas: A Boundary for North and South Carolina,” has opened, going into January, at the Horry County Museum.
Learn about the lines demarcating South Carolina and their origins 400 years ago and their evolution through times with kings, political deals, treaties with American Indians, and other directions that surveying took.
Find the museum, with two floors of displays, at 805 Main St., Conway, in the historic Burroughs School building, next to Horry County Memorial Library’s Conway branch. It’s open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, with free admission, but donations appreciated.

Karaokers invited for ‘The Vocalist Challenge’
Singers ages 16 and older who have not turned professional are welcome to compete in the next two weeks in “The Vocalist Challenge,” a benefit by Krazy Leo Karaoke for the Amercian Cancer Society, with a $17,000 goal.

Two Brunswick County-native residents’ artworks are on display through Sept. 18 in Southeastern Community College’s Wyche Gallery.
