After having to cancel a country music event last year because of COVID-19, Wahoo’s Fish House in Murrells Inlet is essentially doubling up this year.

The restaurant and bar, located on the MarshWalk, is hosting a two-day event featuring eight bands on Saturday and Sunday. The free music event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Saturday’s lineup includes the Winchesters, the Gary Alexander Band and the Josh Brannon Band, while Sunday will feature If Birds Could Fly, Clay Page, Kevin Nichols, the Thomas Road Band and Warrick McZeke.

“Since the pandemic happened in 2020 and we had to cancel the Wahoo’s Country Jam, I decided to make the fourth country a two-day event with a fantastic lineup,” said Tony Jarvis, a bartender at Wahoo’s who also coordinates entertainment and events there.

The music will take place at the venue’s Tiki Bar.

This is the fourth big music event Jarvis has put on, having previously hosted a pair of country music fests and a songwriter’s showcase in 2019. The lineup includes names well-known in the area and some newcomers such as the Windchesters and If Birds Could Fly.

“We have some great local talent and some great out-of-town talent,” Jarvis said.

Wahoo’s will be selling T-shirts and koozies and offering food and drink specials during the event.
