‘Military Appreciation Days’

Three events in Myrtle Beach are part of “Military Appreciation Days”:

▪ Veterans March (not a parade), 9 a.m. with Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, on Ocean Boulevard, from 16th Avenue North southward to Ninth Avenue North.

▪ Memorial Day Ceremony, with Grand Strand Patriotic Alliance, 11 a.m. in plaza of Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Oak Street at 21st Avenue North, with concert by Festive Brass of Myrtle Beach at 10:30 a.m.

▪ Military Officers Association of America Grand Strand Chapter annual golf tournament scholarship benefit, 2 p.m. at Legends Golf & Resort’s Heathland Course in Myrtle Beach, $80 individual or $300 four-person team (details at 903-4047 or 299-0167). 918-1014 or www.militaryappreciationdays.com.

Water parks make splash

All three water parks are open on this holiday, and prices vary at each:

State parks open daily

Both area state parks are open every day of the year, including this holiday, 6 a.m.-10 p.m., for walks, bicycling and nature and bird watching:

▪ Huntington Beach State Park, on U.S. 17 between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach, across from Brookgreen Gardens. 237-4440 or www.huntingtonbeachsp.com. Also, in “Coastal Kayaking,” 10 a.m. Mondays, take a guided saltmarsh tour from Oyster Landing in Murrells Inlet, for $35. Register at 235-8755 by 4 p.m. the previous Sunday.

Stroll at Brookgreen
