Letter | You don’t want us in Myrtle Beach? Fine. This snowbird will fly elsewhere.
HOSPITALITY
You don’t want us here? Fine. This snowbird will fly elsewhere.
In regards to the March 19 letter, “We didn’t ask ya’ll to come South,” by Dorothy Deitz from Myrtle Beach.
I am a snowbird and have been making this drive every year, and have been staying for 2 months, along with many other people in the units around us.
I am disappointed in the reaction of some local residents that are resentful of us Canadians coming across the border to visit Myrtle Beach. We spend thousands of dollars down here every winter, and that helps this state and city with some of the repairs that need to be done.
We pay taxes on every item we buy. We were welcomed at Myrtle Beach Mall, and I really thought that was sincere from the residents of Myrtle Beach.
Next year I have decided not to spend my hard earned money in Myrtle Beach. I have already been ripped off by an owner that took my money and would not return it to me when an emergency surgery was required.
Yes, we do order The Sun News to keep up with the news, and we are noticing how high the crime rate is climbing here.
We will be really thinking about where to spend our next vacation, and now I prefer not to be in Myrtle Beach.
I am also going to try to have this publicized in some of the Canadian newspapers, and maybe some people may not want to come back here.
