HCPD: Deadly shooting in Green Sea self-defense

Horry County police have determined that a deadly shooting last week was in self-defense.

The shooting happened on Olive Drive in Green Sea on Thursday, Nov. 5 about 9:30 p.m.

Kendale Jermain Herring, 29, of Green Sea was killed in the shooting. The shooting suspect is a 22-year-old, of Lumberton, NC.

According to an email from the Horry County Police Department, investigators have determined the shooter acted in self-defense.

Investigators made this determination after looking over evidence and comparing various witness statements.

This was the second shooting incident on Olive Drive last week.

According to Lt. Raul Denis, spokesman with Horry County police, the department is increasing their presence in the Green Sea area and plan to employ several methods to combat crime.
