14-year-old shooting victim from Longs identified
The identity of a 14-year-old boy, who was shot and killed Friday night, was recently released by Tamara Willard, chief deputy coroner, Horry County.
Taizaun Dewitt, 14, died at Sea Coast Hospital from a gunshot wound, authorities said.
Horry County police were called about 8:40 p.m. Friday after Dewitt was shot. Police were told that he was being taken to the Sea Coast Medical Center in Little River by another person, Denis said.
When police arrived, they were immediately told that Dewitt had died from a gunshot wound. Detectives began investigating right away and determined the shooting occurred at a home on Collins Circle in the Longs area, authorities said.
Horry County police are asking that anyone with information about this incident contact them immediately, Denis said.
