Police arrest two at hotel in connection with prostitution
Police arrested a man and a woman in connection with prostitution on Tuesday after authorities said the man told them he did pay the woman for a sexual favor.
Curtis Thomas Shields, 60, was charged with prostitution after police said he paid $40 for a sexual act, according to a police report.
Amanda Nichole Wilson, 29, was also charged with prostitution, police said.
While on patrol about 4 a.m. near Fourth Avenue North and Kings Highway, officers noticed Wilson in Shields’ car and said she was a “known prostitute” and noted they had seen her walking in the area throughout the night, according to the report.
Police followed Shields and Wilson to a hotel on the 600 block of North Kings Highway, where officers approached them after seeing Shields go inside and speak with a hotel employee, authorities said.
Wilson told officers she met Shields and just needed a ride. She told police she was not “tricking,” according to the report.
While being audio and video recorded, Shields did tell police that he paid Wilson for a sexual act, police said.
