Surveillance footage shows burglar sneaking in for lobsters and liquor
Two missing boxes of frozen lobsters, bottles of liquor, a 6-pack of beer and a broken window helped officers piece together a burglary that was recorded on surveillance footage at the Sea Captain’s House early Sunday morning.
A man told police that the burglar entered through a broken window in the back of the bakery, but the window was not broken the night before, according to a police report.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect climbing in through the back window and walking to the kitchen where the burglar grabbed a trash bag, picked items from the freezer and moved on to the bar, according to the report.
At the bar, police say, the suspect selected three to four bottles of liquor and a 6-pack of Bud Light before leaving the store “through an unknown door” outside of the camera’s view.
The burglary reportedly happened between 4:25 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday, according to the report.
After viewing the surveillance footage, officers recognized a suspect from an earlier incident that morning and were able to recover one of the stolen boxes of frozen lobsters.
Police estimated the stolen merchandise added up to more than $309.
Officers did not note in the report whether an arrest had been made in the case, but the incident remains under investigation.
