State files to move Heather Elvis kidnapping trial back to Horry County
The state of South Carolina has filed a request to overturn the change of venue in the Heather Elvis kidnapping trial.
According to court documents, the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office has field for a change of venue to move the venue from Georgetown County back to Horry County, as reported by WBTW. The trial was moved to Georgetown with a Nov. 9 ruling, and the motion to change it back was filed Nov. 10.
Sidney Moorer is accused of kidnapping Elvis, who disappeared in December 2013. Her car and belongings were found at the Peachtree Landing boat ramp.
A deadlocked jury earlier this year resulted in a mistrial in the first attempt at a verdict in June.
