Myrtle Beach-area organizations need your help

Volunteers: Murrells Inlet 2020 is looking for volunteers for the Christmas home tour to be held on Dec. 5, and the Christmas Parade to be held on Dec. 6. Call 843-357-2007 or email info@murrellsinletsc.com.

Volunteers/donations: Safe Haven for Cats a non-profit organization that protects cats by neutering and spaying and keeping cats in foster homes. They are in need of volunteers to help adopt kittens and cats, foster and help with fundraising. Call 843-390-1688 to volunteer or donate funds.

Donations: SC Bar Young Lawyers are collecting items for women in need through Dec. 18. Items needed are basic tools and gift cards to home improvement stores in Spartanburg, Columbia, Myrtle Beach and monetary donations. Donations: The Grand Strand Detachment #873 of the Marine Corps League is holding Toys for Tots Drive through Dec. 19. The toys should be new and un-wrapped for a boy or girl from ages 2 to 12 years old. The list of toys needed includes: books, markers/crayons, small and large stuffed toys, dolls, toy cars/trucks, toddler toys, preschool toys, games for children, outdoor play equipment, bikes/skates/skateboards, radio/tape player/electronics, jewelry/accessories, and stocking stuffers. Donations: If you or anyone you know would like Santa to write a letter to a child and would like to make a $10 tax deductible donation to the American Cancer Society. Santa will need the child’s name, age, mailing address and their Christmas wish list. Donations: The Friends of the North Myrtle Beach Library are accepting used books for its resale book racks. Please drop the books off at the library, 910 First Ave. S., North Myrtle Beach. During regular library hours. The proceeds are used to purchase items for the library that are not covered by the county library system. Call 843-915-5281.

Donations: Surfside PX seeking community support to purchase delivery van. Surfside PX is a nonprofit thrift store that gives their proceeds to the care and rehabilitation of disabled veterans. To support Surfside PX with your tax deductible donation, visit RedBasket.org/683. Every penny donated will go directly towards the purchase of a new delivery van. No fees are charged when donating through Red Basket.

Due to the number of animals that were picked up by animal control during the flood, we anticipate the number of animals needing our help will be great this week. Donations: SC Youth Advocate Program needs help to make Christmas a special time for foster children in our program. All donations go to the children. Call and ask how you, your church, employer, club, etc. can help us. Donations: Quilts of Valor is in need of red, white and blue, cotton fabric to be used in making quilts that are given to veterans and service members who have been touched by war. Monetary donations are accepted to help defray the cost, purchase fabric, batting and thread. Donations: St. Christopher’s Children, a local volunteer-driven charity, has been providing essential clothing and critical orthodontic care to the neediest of children throughout Georgetown County. You can shop or make donations to our resale shop next door to Applewood Pancake House in Pawleys Island.

Donations: North Strand Housing Shelter is in need of paper products, window cleaner, bathroom cleaner, Pine Sol, empty spray bottles, bleach, Oxi Clean, Shout, HE laundry soap, fabric softener, coffee, creamer, sugar, tea bags, bottled water, cereal, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna, gasoline gift cards, and under the bed plastic storage containers (48-by-24-by-7 inches deep).
