Myrtle Beach-area organizations need your help

Donations: SC Bar Young Lawyers are collecting items for women in need through Dec. 18. Items needed are basic tools and gift cards to home improvement stores in Spartanburg, Columbia, Myrtle Beach and monetary donations. Volunteers: Make-A-Wish South Carolina is seeking volunteers to help make wishes come true for children across the state. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed. Interest webinars are offered the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Volunteers: Neighbor to Neighbor is seeking volunteer drivers who have a desire to help homebound seniors by driving them to life-sustaining doctors appointments, the pharmacy and grocery store. Volunteers: Help4Kids/Backpack Buddies program is in need of volunteers to work food drives, help answer the phone and greet people at new location, 2523 Forestbrook Road, Myrtle Beach. Volunteers: Heartland Hospice is in need of volunteers to sit with our patients or help in the office. Also in need of an avid photographer who would be willing to come to our functions and memorialize the event. Training is complimentary and can be provided on your schedule. Volunteers: Bikini Beach Cat Rescue is in need of volunteers who can help with quarterly newsletter, upcoming golf fundraiser and fundraising for spay/neuter programs. Volunteers: Guardian Ad Litem program is in need of volunteers who are willing to give their time and effort to assist children in need. You would be assigned a case where you could become the voice for that child. You must be 21, have no criminal history and not appear on the child abuse registry. Volunteers: Smith Medical Clinic is in need of volunteer nurses. Schedules are flexible, with the following clinic hours: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Call 843-237-2672.

Volunteers: Horry County Literacy Council is looking for people who would be interested in volunteering in the following areas: community outreach, board of directors, dyslexia tutors, math tutors, general literacy tutors, literacy screeners, data entry, general office support. Call 843-839-1695.
