An Aynor-area home is now a burnt ruin after a blazing, overnight fire resulted in a total loss of the Rabon Road property.

A neighbor across the street from the vacant home was awoken by his dogs, and he called emergency crews out to the blaze. Horry County Fire Rescue firefighters responded about 3 a.m. Thursday and found the structure fire to be fully involved upon arrival, Captain John Fowler with HCFR said.

No one was home when the fire broke out and firefighters at the scene were told no one has been living in the house for some time, Fowler said.

HCFR investigators were still on scene hours after the blaze, doing overhaul on the structure and examining the remnants of the home to determine the fire’s cause and origins, Fowler said.

Conway Fire Department firefighters and extra HCFR crews were called to the scene to help responding firefighters battle the blaze, and no rescue crew members were injured during the fire, Fowler said.

The cause remains under investigation, Fowler said.
