Crews battle fire at North Myrtle Beach apartment building
North Myrtle Beach fire crews responded to a blaze at a First Avenue South apartment building early Friday afternoon.
Crews were called about 12 p.m. to an apartment building at 215 First Avenue South in North Myrtle Beach. The fire started on the second floor and extended to the third floor, but was extinguished, according to Pat Dowling, North Myrtle Beach city spokesman.
“A preliminary search of the building shows that no one was hurt,” Dowling said.
There were about 10 occupants in the building at the time of the fire, and the North Myrtle Beach’s victim advocate is working with the American Red Cross to help find temporary housing for those displaced by the fire, Dowling said.
The cause is still under investigation.
Horry County Fire Rescue, Calabash Fire Department, and Myrtle Beach Fire assisted North Myrtle Beach in putting out the blaze.
