Goodwill to host job recruitment event for seniors

Palmetto Goodwill is hosting a recruitment event Wednesday to help area seniors find jobs.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Goodwill Prosperity Center at 3101 Oak Street, and resources will be offered through the organization’s partnership with the Senior Community Service Employment Program, which is an on-the-job training and employment program aimed at helping those 55 and older update job skills, build on work experience, and find confidence, according to a press release.

Building these skills is designed to ultimately help area seniors continue to have economic security and well-being.

Participants may be placed in positions with local community agencies, like social service non-profits, schools and libraries, daycare and senior centers, and government agencies, and they may be aided in finding full or part time work.

Local seniors how qualify for the program must be: 55 or older, unemployed, have low income, be motivated to find employment, lack skills or education, live in Horry, Georgetown, Sumter, Marion, Dillon or Chesterfield counties.
