Horry County firefighters battle blaze overnight at abandoned house
The cause as to how a fire started overnight in an abandoned Loris house hadn’t been determined later Tuesday morning, according to Brian VanAernem, spokesperson with Horry County Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were called out to battle the blaze about 12 a.m. Tuesday at the vacant home on Old Todd Ferry Road in the Goretown area near Loris, and the home was completely destroyed, VanAernem said.
An investigation is currently underway as authorities work to determine what caused the fire, and VanAernem said the origin of the blaze may take some time to figure out because of the massive amount of damage the home suffered.
No one was hurt, and no one was around when crews arrived, authorities said.
The Loris Fire Department provided help as HCFR fought the fire, VanAernem said.
More information will be released as it is provided. Please check back for story updates.
