Traffic alert: Crews battle vehicle fire on U.S. 501 in Myrtle Beach area

Horry County Fire Rescue was called to a vehicle fire with injuries that caused traffic to back up on U.S. 501 near Waccamaw Boulevard on Friday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the fire about 10:25 a.m. near 3632 Waccamaw Blvd. on U.S. 501 in the Myrtle Beach area, said Tony Casey, spokesperson for HCFR. One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Casey said.

The beach bound side of U.S. 501 is down to one lane. The fire was under control by 11 a.m.
