Outage leaves dozens of Horry County electric customers in the dark
Nearly 1,850 Horry Electric Cooperative customers are in the dark following a power outage.
Customers located along Old Reaves Ferry Road, as well as those the communities of Hand and Nixonville — both in the area of S.C. Highways 31 and 22 — are among those affected.
“We are working on the outage impacting 1,844 members served out of the Nixonville substation,” said Horry Electric Cooperative via its Facebook page. “The power transformer is damaged. Servicemen are looking at options to backfeed so that service can be restored as quickly as possible.”
According to Horry Electric spokeswoman Penelope Hinson, crews are “working on a backfeeding option in an effort to restore power.”
Currently, there is no estimated timetable as to when power would be restored.
