Some roads closed by Hurricane Matthew not expected to open for another year
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has released new information on when roads closed by damage by Hurricane Matthew might reopen in Horry County.
Five sections of roadways are still closed because of the October storm, with one not expected to reopen until fall of next year.
The roads and anticipated openings are:
▪ S.C. 19 from mile 5.44 to 8.49, closed because of washout and won’t reopen until Fall of 2017.
▪ S.C. 45 from mile point 7.46 to 8.95, closed because of washout; expected to open before Jan. 1
▪ Red Bluff Road from mile point 10.72 to 12.27, closed because of washout; expected to open before Jan. 1
▪ Stevens Street from mile point .26 to .31, closed because of washout at brick culvert; expected to open in Summer 2017
▪ S.C. 23 from mile point 15.81 to 16.19, closed because of washout; expected to open in Summer 2017.
