Persian Dream Bars

Ingredients

Crust

½ c shortening

½ c brown sugar

1 c flour

Filling

2 eggs

1 c brown sugar

1 t vanilla

¼ t salt

2 T flour

½ tsp baking powder

1 c chopped nuts

1 ½ c shredded coconut

Method

Crust

Beat shortening and brown sugar together. Blend in flour, line 8 by 8 pan. Bake 15 minutes at 325

Filling

Beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar and vanilla. Mix in flour and remaining ingredients.

Spread over the baked crust and return to oven to bake another 25 minutes at 325. Cut into 24 squares—These are rich!
