Research company involved in Moderna COVID vaccine trials opening Myrtle Beach branch
A clinical trial research company that was involved in the successful Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trials is opening a branch in Myrtle Beach.
Trial Management Associates is based in Wilmington, North Carolina, where it was one of 10 sites selected for Phase II of the vaccine trial. Oversight for the company’s studies will be provided by a local medical clinic, Carolina Health Specialists.
“With this expansion and the partnership with Carolina Health Specialists, we are able to bring cutting-edge medicine to all of the Myrtle Beach community,” Trial Management Associates President Phil Dattilo said in a press release.
Trial Management Associates is now seeking healthy volunteers for clinical trials in areas such as vaccine, diabetes, obesity, smoking cessation and rheumatoid arthritis therapies trials. The company specializes in Phase 2-4 studies, which focus on researching the effects of a drug on patients with the condition it is meant to treat, such as testing a new type of insulin on people with diabetes.
“Volunteering for a clinical trial is an extraordinary opportunity for residents of the Myrtle Beach community to gain access to the new generations of study medication, have a full dedicated clinical team focused on your health, gain a full understanding of your overall health, as well as receive compensation for your involvement,” Dattilo said in the press release. “Volunteers are also playing an important role in bettering medicine for current and future generations.”
The trials, including medical care, are conducted at no cost to participants, who will also be paid for their time and travel.
