July 21 | The Shallote Lions Club will hold its 21st annual golf tournament on the Rees Jones course at Sea Trail Plantation on Saturday, July 21. Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. for this captain’s choice event. Entry fee is $65 per player which includes green and cart fees, a buffet luncheon and over $1400 in prizes. Proceeds from this event will support the vision and hearing impaired in the area that cannot otherwise receive care.
July 21 | Second annual Ramon Sessions Charity Tournament, Heron Point Golf Club, 9:30 a.m. shotgun start, four-person captain’s choice format. Entry fee of entry fee of $70 per player includes customized trophies signed by Sessions, a putting contest for rounds of golf, goodie bags provided by sponsor Sysco including a free round at Heron Point, and more than $4,000 in prizes. Sessions is donating through a random drawing four tickets to watch him play against the Charlotte Bobcats. Dunkin Donuts is providing breakfast and T-Bonz, Hooters, Tilted Kilt, Hard Rock Café and Mulligans restaurants are also providing food. Hole sponsorships are $100 each. July 28-29 | Lowcountry Open, two-man best ball, Founders Club at Pawleys Island, tee times begin at 9 a.m., open and senior (55-and-over) age divisions, net and gross format divisions. Only teams with verified USGA handicaps can compete in net division. Entry fee of $100 per player includes prizes, food and tournament gift. Practice rounds from July 25-27 for $30. Aug. 4 | Fight Breast Cancer from the Fairways tournament, International Club of Myrtle Beach, 9 a.m. shotgun start, captain’s choice format, singles welcome. Entry fee of $65 per player includes continental breakfast, barbecue lunch, awards, raffle prizes, 50-50 drawing, best dressed in pink contest. Entry deadline is July 15. Aug. 11 | The St. James Booster Club & Girl’s basketball team will host the 8th annual Sharks Tournament at the International Club in Murrells Inlet. All proceeds with go towards St. James athletic programs. It will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, 4-man Captain’s Choice format. There is an early bird special of $65 per player or $260 per team if paid before August 1. After August 1, it is $75 per player and $300 per team. The fee includes green and cart fees, lunch, beverages and a goodie bag. Prizes will be awarded to the top four teams, male/female closest to the pin and longest drive. There will also be four hole-in-one prizes: 2012 Harley Davidson Fat Boy or $20,000 cash, set of Cleveland irons, Kindle Fire and $500 Visa gift card and a raffle will be conducted. Aug. 12 | The Grand Strand Optimist Club is having the 16th annual Benefit Tournament on August 12th at The Burning Ridge Golf Course. The price is $75.00 for one player or $125.00 for two. Nov. 12-13 | DeBordieu Celebrity Pro-Am for Cystic Fibrosis, DeBordieu Club, Texas Scramble format in which the best drive of a fivesome is selected and each player completes the hole with his own ball from there. Handicaps counted. The Monday-Tuesday pro-am costs $1,000 per four-player team and includes banquets, food, beverages and a gift pack. A $2,000 team entry includes higher level gifts primarily from Adams Golf. A pro auction on Nov. 12 will determine each team’s fifth player. All proceeds benefit the SC chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
