Myrtle Beach football coach Mickey Wilson was named the Carolina Panthers' coach of the week on Sunday.
Wilson, who led the Seahawks to a 46-34 win over Hanahan in the second round of the playoffs on Friday, moved to 70-12 in his six years as head coach. His teams have won at least 10 games each season since he took over and won the 2010 and 2013 Class AAA state championships.
He received recognition of the award in the Panthers' game day program against Atlanta on Sunday and will join the Panthers’ other weekly honorees at a home game later this season. Wilson is automatically entered for the NFL team's yearly award, which will be decided at the end of the season.
Myrtle Beach High School's athletics department will also receive a $1,000 donation from the Panthers.
