Manning (7-3) at Myrtle Beach (9-1)
When | 7:30 p.m.
The game | The Myrtle Beach defense has been playing lights out football since giving up 55 points to Conway back on Sept. 21. But more importantly, the Seahawks have continued to improve. They allowed 21 points to Wilson, held Socastee to a season-low 27, gave up just nine to St. James and then shut out Georgetown and North Myrtle Beach to close the regular season. What’s more, Friday night’s game will be the first of the year Chocolate Wilson will play. The Shrine Bowl of the Carolina selection should allow the front seven to jam the box against Manning and further prevent the Monarchs from mounting much of a rushing attack. If the Seahawks can jump out to a decent lead early, they should be able to take advantage of what is normally a dominating home-field advantage. Myrtle Beach has lost just three games at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in coach Mickey Wilson’s four seasons.
