High School Football

Game of the Week (Oct. 19)

    ORDER REPRINT →

October 18, 2012 06:48 PM

Dillon 7-1, 3-0) at Loris (6-2, 3-0)

When | 7:30 p.m.

The game | A year ago, Loris came into this game undefeated and left with a 57-0 loss to a team affectionately referred to “Dillon University”. This season, though, the Lions may actually be a better team. Loris’ two losses have seemed light when compared to what it has been able to do in its six victories. Against some decent teams, the Lions’ defense has been downright nasty. They’ve allowed 7.75 points per game and have forced 25 turnovers in eight games. Those 15 fumble recoveries and 10 interceptions have stopped plenty of opponents from doing any significant damage, and it’s the type of thing that could derail Dillon and its handful of future NCAA Division-I players. Loris is still the underdog, but behind that defense, the Lions should be able to make much more of a game of this one than they did a year ago.
