Jordan Ward

School | Georgetown

Class | Junior

Position | Strong safety

The scoop | A week ago, Socastee’s offense did its biggest damage in a win over Myrtle Beach with runs between the tackles. It culminated with a 6-minute, 34-second drive in the third quarter that turned out to be a big step toward pulling the upset. Friday night, Georgetown is going to have to stop that dive run, and it may come down to Ward, who is more linebacker than defensive back, helping to seal off the line of scrimmage. Ward has a team-high 81 total tackles and is a major reason Georgetown is allowing fewer than 16 points per game this season despite the Bulldogs losing their top linebacker, Cody Floyd, earlier in the year.
