Georgetown (5-2, 2-0) at Socastee (7-0, 2-0)

The game | Socastee’s monster start to 2012 can no longer be considered a product of who it is playing. The Braves’ last victory knocked Myrtle Beach from its throne atop the region. Still, it’s no smooth-sailing for coach Tim Renfrow’s bunch. Next up is another big one, this time against Georgetown. The Bulldogs are the only other undefeated team in region play and have aspirations of their own of becoming the front-runner. That will be no easy task. Socastee has already proved it has an offensive scheme capable of putting up big point totals. However, it was defense that really stood out the last two weeks. The Braves have scored on special teams and defense in the last two weeks. Against North Myrtle Beach, it was a punt return; against Myrtle Beach, it was a 97-yard interception return. If the Braves stay on that path, it could be an even bigger uphill climb for Georgetown.
