High school football roundup | Adams scores 4 TDs in St. James’ win

Austin Adams put St. James on his back and the Sharks picked up a Region VII-AAA win over Wilson 42-21 Friday night.

Adams had four rushing touchdowns and St. James had 25 first downs to Wilson’s 2. Adams scored two in the first quarter on 3 and 1-yards respectively. He scored on another 1-yard run in the second quarter and had a longer one in the fourth, 17 yards.

Overall, Adams finished with 133 yards on 26 carries but that didn’t even lead the Sharks, who had three runners finish with over 100 yards rushing.

Allen Crum led the way for St. James with 161 yards on 14 carries and quarterback Josh Roper had 119 yards on 17 carries.

| A two-score halftime deficit was no problem for the Blue Jackets.



A blocked PAT by Aynor’s DQ Nash ultimately started the comeback the Blue Jackets since the Swamp Foxes couldn’t convert the two-point conversion on their next scoring drive.

Damion Riggins scored on a two-yard rush in the third quarter for Aynor’s first score, and quarterback Nathan Peeples completed a pass to Nash on the two-point conversion to cut the Blue Jackets’ deficit to four. Ronique Smith then caught a six yard pass from Peeples in the fourth quarter, which sealed the deal for Aynor.

The Blue Jackets had possession of the ball for 11 minutes and 30 seconds in the fourth quarter as they forced Marion to turn the ball over twice.

Aynor’s defense was helped by BJ Haywood as he recorded 5 tackles (one for loss), and Cole Capps who had two tackles (both for loss), three assists, and one fumble recovery.

| Da’Shaun Aiken scored two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and one special teams touchdown to lead the Bears to a big victory over the Eagles.



Devin Cuttino started the scoring for Carvers Bay on a four yard rush that came in the first quarter. Cuttino finished as the leading rusher as he carried the ball 13 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Desmond Sumpter had two interceptions to lead the Bears’ tough defense. Naquez Pringle recorded five tackles and recovered a fumble, Shawn Lawrence recorded nine tackles and Stefan Hannah had six tackles for Carvers Bay.

| Jaleel Filmore had 173 yards on 30 carries and one touchdown to lead the Yellow Jackets to a victory over Kingstree.



Andrews quarterback Ethan Wright connected with Josh Robinson from seven yards out for his only score in the air, and Wright scored a one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Wright finished 2 for 7 with 19 yards in the air, and had 89 yards on 13 carries.

Johnel Grant recorded eight tackles (two for loss), one sack and one deflected pass, and Quandre Green had five solo tackles (two for loss) and five assists for the Yellow Jackets.
