Game of the Week (September 28)

North Myrtle Beach (4-1) at Socastee (5-0)

When | 7:30 p.m.

The game | Arguably the most important game in Region VII-AAA comes in the first week of region play. These two teams have shown throughout the first half of the season that they are both worthy of a top-two spot in the division, and whichever squad wins this game will be sitting in great position for the rest of the way. We all know what Socastee’s offense – which averages about 392 yards per game on the ground – can do. And little by little, we’re finding out that North Myrtle Beach is no slouch either. However, Chiefs tailback Delonzo Williams may not be at 100 percent when this game starts. If there’s a threat of him re-injuring a mildly sprained ankle, the coaching staff isn’t going to sacrifice the rest of the region slate for this one game. If he doesn’t play, or if he isn’t healthy enough to make his normal contribution, the Chiefs may have a harder time keeping up with the area’s best rushing team.
