Player to Watch (September 14)

Will Brunson

School | Carolina Forest

Class | Sophomore

Position | Quarterback

The scoop | Brunson is leading the area in passing yards with 701 through four games, but he’s coming off his toughest outing of the year. The young quarterback was 7-of-17 for just 35 yards in that blowout loss to White Knoll last week. Like coach Drew Hummel has done with some of the best players to come through his program, Brunson is learning by fire. He’s going to have some bad games, but he’s also going to have a lot of good ones, too. The only problem for the sophomore is that his performances is games like Friday’s are going to be magnified. If he plays well, Carolina Forest might have a chance to pull the huge upset. If he struggles, the Panthers may become the next victim of a Myrtle Beach team with legitimate state title aspirations.
