Game of the Week (September 14)

Myrtle Beach (3-0) at Carolina Forest (1-3)

When | 7:30 p.m.

The game | There’s been a recurring theme in each of Carolina Forest’s three losses. The Panthers’ defense is getting run over, around and through. Socastee, Fort Dorchester and White Knoll – three teams who combined to put up 136 points on Carolina Forest – each had at least one 100-yard rusher. Last week, White Knoll piled up 443 rushing yards. The good news is that Friday’s opponent runs the ball about as much as Halley’s Comet circles the planet. The bad news is that Friday’s opponent is Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks have defeated Carolina Forest by an average score of 53-2 the last four seasons. That includes three shutouts during that span. More than likely, the Seahawks take care of business Friday and improve to 11-5 all-time against the Panthers. If nothing else, though, Carolina Forest will have a break from a slew of running backs that have torched its defense.
