Area sports briefs: Shrine Bowl to be shown tape delayed on ESPNU

The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas announced on Thursday that the 2009 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All Star Football Classic will be televised through tape delay three times on ESPNU.

The telecasts of the Dec. 19 game - to be played at Wofford College in Spartanburg - will air on the network at 2 p.m. on Dec. 28, 3:30 a.m. Dec.29 and 7 p.m. Jan. 7.

This is the second year in a row ESPNU will televise the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

Pro golf

Former College of Charleston golfer Kyle Bradley of North Augusta carded a 7-under-par 65 to win an NGA Hooters Tour Carolina Winter Series event at Black Bear Golf Club by a stroke over Brian Bergstol of Mount Bethel, Pa., with a 10-under 206 total. Bradley, 29, earned $3,650 for the win.

Jimmy Brandt of Auburn, Ala., finished third at 6-under 210 and three golfers tied for fourth at 213. Zack Byrd of Murrells Inlet shot a 71 Thursday to tie for seventh at 1-under 214 to earn $1,060. Tony Parrish of North Myrtle Beach shot 78 to finish 17th at 220 and Ryan Tyndall of Murrells Inlet shot 79 to finish 18th at 222.

(At) St. James 71, Conway 6 | Spencer Davis won at 152 pounds in his first varsity match and the Sharks overpowed the Tigers to improve to 3-0 heading into their home tournament this weekend.

St. James will host Waccamaw, Conway, Loris, Myrtle Beach and Bishop England in the inaugural Shark Duals beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
