The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team shot a 3-over 287 on Tuesday to finish fifth in the Bay Area Intercollegiate.

The Chanticleers finished at 26-over 878, 44 strokes behind winner Washington.

Coastal’s Malene Krolboll Hansen (70) tied for eighth (213), Lena Schaeffner (72) tied for 17th (219), Frida Castillo (74) tied for 22nd (221), Bailey Cocca (71) tied for 41st (226) and Emee Herbert (76) tied for 53rd (230).

Washington’s Jennifer Yang (68) and Colorado’s Esther Lee (72) tied for medalist honors at 7-under 206.

•  Patrick Golden earned medalist honors with a 2-under 34 as the Waccamaw boys golf team edged Socastee and Carolina Forest at Prestwick Country Club.

| Quadarius Grate and Luke Williams had one goal and one assist apiece, and goalkeeper Haywood Brandon helped the Sharks shut out the Chiefs in the Region VII-AAA opener.



Brandon made two saves for St. James, which improved to 6-0-1.

| Forrest Powell hit a home run and drove in three and Connor Eckard went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored as the Warriors downed the Yellow Jackets.



Powell picked up the win on the mound for Waccamaw, which allowed just three hits.
