Trying new things has never been a problem for Ian Guerin.

After serving extensively as the lead prep sportswriter for The Sun News, last year he authored the book “Beach Ball Classic: Premier High School Hoops on the Grand Strand.”

Now, he’ll trying his hand at radio.

Guerin announced last week he would provide color commentary this season for Carolina Forest football radio broadcasts on WSEA-FM 101.9. He share the booth with Chris Schieman, who will be doing play-by-play.

“As much time as I’ve spent on the radio for various purposes over the years, being part of a consistent radio team calling games will be a new experience for me,” Guerin said. “If I can make it to Week 5 without Chris trying to get me fired, I will consider it a huge success.”

Guerin’s first opportunity as a regular on the airwaves will come on Aug. 25, when Carolina Forest takes on Providence Day (N.C.).
