What’s new | It recently received a $2,000 donation to fund the Smart Snacks Program. This provides food over the weekends for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade in Horry County who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

What’s grand about it | It has 269 beds, a Level 2 nursery and treats more than 70,000 emergency patients annually. Its cardiac surgery program was rated No. 1 in South Carolina by HealthGrades and is the only program in Horry and Georgetown counties.
What’s new | In April, The Grand Strand Regional Medical Center was verified as a Level 2 trauma center by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

What’s new | The Waccamaw Medical Park is a new medical office building on the Waccamaw Community Hospital campus in Murrells inlet.

What’s new | The whole facility is fairly new. It opened in July 2011.

What’s new | The Dosher Medical Associates hospital-based primary care family practice was recently opened. It accepts everyone including people with Medicare and Medicaid coverage.
