What to know | There is a 24-hour waiting period. The license fee for county residents is $50; South Carolina state resident is $75; out-of-state residents and others $100. For an additional $50, a judge can perform the ceremony when you pick up the license.
Other stipulations | The minimum age for obtaining a marriage license is 16. Consent of a parent or legal custodian is needed for those younger than 18. People over 18 but less than 25 need a valid driver’s license, voter registration card, military identification card, birth certificate or passport, and Social Security number. Those younger than 18 need a certified copy of their birth certificate and a notarized statement of parental consent. No proof of age is required of an applicant 25 years of age or older.

What to know | The fee is $60 cash, certified check or money order. Both bride and groom must apply in person with a valid driver’s license, certified birth certificate, passport, military identity card or state issued identity card. The party can be married anywhere in North Carolina for a period of 60 days after issuance and the license must be returned to Brunswick County within 10 days after the marriage celebration by the person performing the marriage.
Other stipulations | The minimum age for obtaining a marriage license is 18. If a party has been divorced, he or she needs to know the date of final divorce decree.
