Editor’s note: Israeli elections are being held this week.
Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the joint houses of Congress of the United States. This was his third time to give such an address.
The only other leader to address the U.S. congress three times was Sir Winston Churchill. The address by Netanyahu coincided with the Feast of Purim, which commemorates Queen Esther’s appeal to the king of Persia to save the Jewish people.
History seems to be repeating itself.
Iran, formerly known as Persia, is about to be allowed to go ahead in developing nuclear weapons with which they have promised to annihilate the nation of Israel.
Even though the American people overwhelmingly side with the concerns of the Israelis, the present U.S. administration is determined to give the Iranian government a deal that would lead to nuclear weapons. This will set up one of the most perilous times in world history that we see prophesied in Scripture, when the nations gather together to threaten the survival of Israel, and put Jerusalem in peril. This echoes the situation of the Jewish people in the Book of Esther, in the Word of God.
It is critical that believers everywhere stand as intercessors for Israel at “such a time as this.” Pray that those nations gathering in Geneva to plot against Israel will be frustrated from their plans. Bind the present-day demonic spirit of Haman that would destroy the Jews. Pray divine protection over the whole of Israel.
May those who would plot to divide Jerusalem be completely hindered.
Pray for Prime Minister Netanyahu.
May the Lord rise up to defend Zion, and bless those nations that bless Israel. May America be found only to bless Israel, and not curse it.
Let us praise the Lord who defends Israel. May the Lord be “as a wall of fire” around Israel, “the apple of His eye.”
The first Feast of Purim concluded with the King heeding the plea of Queen Esther and the deliverance of God’s people. May the King of Glory heed our plea in the year of 2015.
