We absolutely agree with Mr. Burns! We own a condo at Anderson Ocean Club, and have indeed been “held hostage.” We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for Memorial Day weekend for many years.
We are now forced to travel elsewhere for that weekend, because it is dangerous and unpleasant to remain in Myrtle Beach, but must block our unit out for ourselves during that time because of threats from the NAACP that we could be sued if we block it out without being here ourselves.
We have seen the criminal and blatant scofflaw behavior that prevails during this weekend with very little response by law enforcement. People who rent during that time are shocked and swear they won't ever come back for that weekend. It's time to protect the residents and visitors from this situation. We are also upset that our property taxes will be increased because of this situation. That is absurd.

Here’s a Bikefest
So Horry County is looking for a way to pay for extra security during Bikefest. That is easy. Just charge a $100,000 license fee in order to hold motorcycle rallies anywhere in the county.
Bromell-Tinubu has skills,
priorities our area needs
There have been years when I cast my ballot for the “lesser of two evils.” This will not be one of them. I'll be voting for Gloria Bromell-Tinubu for U.S. Congress.
One of the reasons is that I trust her to help victims in South Carolina or other coastal states if/when a hurricane strikes.
Remember the debate that went on in Congress over providing relief to the victims of Hurricane Sandy? Fortunately, Congress voted 241-180 in favor of helping them with the passage of HR 152, the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act. Our congressman, Tom Rice, was one of the minority “no” votes. What possible reason could there be to refuse to help our fellow Americans when they are suffering through no fault of their own?
Gloria Bromell-Tinubu knows what it is like to struggle and fight adversity. I want her to be my voice in Congress. She will vote for our best interests.
