Re April 12 article, “Owner of deceased dog disputes police account”
Once again I read in horror of the senseless killing of a family pet by the Horry County police. I have several dogs, one of which is a retriever. I know his mannerisms and how he shows affection. Retrievers love to nip at hands and feet to get attention. When he does this to me he never breaks the skin or hurts me in any way. It’s just his way of getting attention.
The newspaper article states that no skin was broken or clothing torn. Well, I guess Horry's finest just overreacted again. They can run around with impunity and shoot any pet they choose without fear of being held accountable. Why is there no investigation planned? The bullet could have passed through this pet and into another apartment and struck an innocent person.
The new Horry County Police Chief needs to call for an outside investigation by SLED. I call on the Horry County Council to hold her and her officers accountable and ask for an investigation. This type of incident happens too often. This was a reckless act and those responsible must be held accountable.
Only God and those there know the truth, and I hope God sees you in the same light as I do.
