Re March 27 letter by Sandra Swaringen, “Daytona welcomes bikers, why not us?”
She suggests locals should take a vacation if we feel the biker noise is too overwhelming. I feel this attitude typifies the lack of regard this group has for our area. Instead of coming here and respecting our laws and keeping the peace, their prevailing mindset seems to be “we're here, we're in your face, and if you don't like it, leave.”
I'm willing to bet that the towns these people come from would not tolerate their lack of consideration around schools, neighborhoods and other motorists. No other tourist group shows this kind of disrespect to our area.
Meanwhile, I appreciate the efforts of city and county officials who try to rein in this fiasco and I vote accordingly. I wish someone could explain why these motorcycles have to be so loud. I doubt a Gold Wing rally would be met with this much opposition.

The traffic congestion they cause does not bother me. Their questionable behavior does not bother me. When I can't hear the TV inside my own home, that bothers me.
